Solid State adds optoelectronics with Pacer acquisition

Founded in 1971, Solid State manufactures computing, power and communications products in addition to component distribution. Pacer will bring custom design and increase scope for design and manufacture for opto components, lasers and displays, using the new production facility in Weymouth, Dorset.

Solid State’s chief executive Gary Marsh said the acquisition will complement the Solid State Group “enhancing the value added operations and increasing exposure to high growth markets such as the medical sector”.

The US business will also be an opportunity to develop the company in the US.
