Electronica: Teledyne announces 8Gsample/s DAC for satellites

The device is the EV12DS480, and evolution of its EV12DS460, now providing a broader options of frequency planning configurations.
The chip has four output operating modes (NRZ, RTZ, NRTZ & RF). And it includes a programmable pulse shaping feature for working across multiple Nyquist zones.
Resolution is 12bit and the differential analogue output swing is 1Vp-p into 100Ω differential.
Packaging is a 15 x 15mm 196 ball BGA with 1mm ball pitch.
There are two junction temperature ranges: -10°C to 90°C and -40°C to 110°C
The EV12DS480 will be offered in various reliability grades including NASA grade 1. Radiation data will be available in the coming months.
Applications are also expected in
- broadband direct digital synthesis L-S and lower C Band)
- automatic test equipment
- arbitrary waveform generators
- satellite up-conversion sub systems
- radar waveform signal synthesis
- DOCSIS V3.1
